tuktuk..

My furthest trip as of 30th August 2010 - Bangkok, Thailand.

I was so excited about this trip.. After a loooooooong time of not going for a family holiday. We went over to Bangkok to meet up with my brother, who's working there. His place to stay is great! Fits the 4 of us snuggly. Hehehe .. He had an extra single bed to himself while mom, dad ad myself shared a king sized. My brother is really lucky to be working in Bangkok, his lodging is a serviced apartment all to himself. Laundry and cleaning taken care of! But Bangkok is still going on with the bombing and all, I just hope he finishes quick there and move off to somewhere safer :)

The trip in bangkok is filled wiht shopping! That is a where our ringgit has more value! Things are so much cheaper there. Clothes, shoes, bags! fooooh. The best place was Chaktukchak marker or JJ market. It's a super big market which sells everything I would buy :D It's not a wet market or market market type. Rather a flea market la. There was too much to see, too much to walk. The place is quite "chap".. It's really suffocating being inside the market. I like walking at the stalls which faced the road. Much more air to breathe.. The weather was just right when we were there, wind and all :D

Aside from heavy duty shopping, there was the sight seeing. Temples, grand palace which I didn't go in for it costs 350baht! Couldn't walk anymore d.. hehehe We met two kind souls, one while eating at a roadside stall and one more would be our tuktuk driver. The uncle who sat with us at the roadside was way friendly and guided us on how to go about to maximize our trip visiting the temples and all. Then, he got us a government sponsored tuktuk which didn't con our money. The driver was sooooo friendly that it scared us a lil. My brother said they can be friendly then suddenly ask for tips and when you don't give them, they will sour face and all. But we were so blessed to meet two really kind souls (:

Another thing about thailand is the amount of cars, taxis, motorbike taxis and tuktuks! If you think the jam in kl is bad, you haven't seen those in bkk! It's really really jam during peak hours :( But there is taxi all over the road in all colours - pink, orange, green, blue. Seriously I dont know how people can make a living being a taxi/motorbike driver.. It is so competitive!! And the taxi fare is SUPER reasonable.. in other words, compare to malaysia, CHEAP LA IN THAILAND. Even cheaper than their lrt which they call BTS.

People in thailand are generally fit and dress well. It's really hard to find a fat person in bkk.. and also old people. I suppose it's the city, thus having more youths and yuppies. Language barrier is definitely present, especially when you travel to the outskirts and non-foreigners area. They dont talk any english.. We went to tesco to get some stuff, fooh.. cannot communicate. We just see what people take, we also take. Heh heh heh..

The food in thailand is sweet sweet sweet. There are salty stuff like pork satay and sticky rice which i ♥! But the noodles .. soup .. sutff are mostly sweet in taste. Not used to it at all .. I felt quite sick eating the stuff after a few meals. But bangkok do offer a whole new eating experience. There is so much different things to eat.. and alot of on the go food too. The food portion is little though. and! 7-11 is very popular in bkk. It's cheap! and it's always full of people.

Though my trip was just 3 days, I can say I covered quite alot of Bangkok. It's a shopping land. And i would so like to return there with more money to buy more (: It's really a good deal!!
